High Point winners at the Morab Show
KMHA
once again sponsored a series of High Point awards during a Morgan horse show in Kentucky. The show this time was the 11th Annual PMHA Morab National Show, held October 25 – 26, in the indoor arena at the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park. This was a three-breed show for Morabs and their parent breeds, the Morgan and Arabian. It is also USEF and AHA approved and is an A rated show for the Morgans.
The winning exhibitors were awarded $150.00 for highest points obtained in the Junior and Amateur classes. The reserve winners were awarded $75.00.

The Kentucky Morgan Horse Association objective is to promote the American Morgan Horse within the state of Kentucky.
KMHA is affiliated with the national association, the American Morgan Horse Association and is the primary conduit through which awards are made to Morgan breeders
for the Breeders' Incentive program created by the Kentucky Legislation. The funds that support KMHA sponsorship for show classes and
High Point awards come from the registration and nomination fees for the Incentive program as well as the membership dues
and donations given to the organization. Because KMHA lobbies for the Morgan breed, donations to the organization can not be tax deductible.
Despite this limitation, all funding is put to good use in making the good name of the Morgan known through out the state of Kentucky.
Morgan Show at the KY State Fair
The High Point
awards were calculated and given out for the first time this year. Point were collected for all Junior riders (17
and younger), Amateur exhibitors (18
and older with amateur standing) and for Morgan horses that have been nominated
to the Kentucky Morgan Horse Breeders'
Incentive program.A laptop
spreadsheet was used to record the placement of each exhibitor at the
conclusion of all relevant classes. The score was weighted to the number of
exhibitors in the class so that the first place exhibitor of a class of 10, would receive ten point while the last placed exhibitor
received a score of one.
Tanner Cosby won
the Junior Exhibitor High Point Award which was presented to her by Richard
during the Bluegrass Morgan Horse Association monthly meeting.
Jennifer Hazen
placed first in the Amateur High Point category.
Shamrock Morgan, Blade won the Breeders' Incentive High Point award which was sent to its
owner, Ashley Wilson.
All winners received $250.00 with thanks to the Kentucky Morgan Horse Association.
HAY shortage in Kentucky
The KY Horse Council has added a page just for hay information, and they would like anyone out there who either HAS HAY or NEEDS HAY to let them know, and they will post it to their site.
You can email the Council at

A good statewide network among horse owners will help us all live through the current hay shortage!
